Cold steel Pipe hawk vs rifleman's hawk??

I was looking to try out a tomahawk and the cold steel ones seem to be a good start. I cant decide what to get, trail hawk or riflemans / pipe hawk.

The riflemans and pipe hawk seem to be similar in design give or take a few changes. The pipe hawk is made of 5150 and the trail/ rifleman's hawks are made of 1055. Is one steel better than the other? Which one?

Thanks

I think both will serve you well. The main difference is weight. I like the appearance of the pipe hawk more. Also, the rifleman's has a straighter edge and the pipe has a curved edge. I think the straight edge works better, but the rifleman is getting heavy enough to where I'd consider a small axe instead.

Thanks for the input. Would the steel make a difference?

They are the same steel. 1055. It says so on the CS website.
From the pipe hawks page, "Precision forged from 5150 carbon steel, the Pipe Hawk offers a long, reasonably wide cutting edge and a solid, fully hardened hammer poll that's turned and ribbed to mimic a hollow pipe bowl."

LOL, I missed that. But did you read below in the specs where it says "Steel: Drop Forged 1055 Carbon"

I will contact CS about this.

I just heard from CS:

Correct steel is 1055.
Thank you for the head-up, the errors have been corrected on our website(s).
