Cold Steel Prices Going Up!!!

I was talking to a friend who sells Cold Steel, he is a small volume dealer. Since the the last time he bought the American Lawman, Recon 1, Voyager XL's and Code 4's which was late July, the prices have increased about 15-20% on those models. Looks like all the new inventory rolling into his distributor has this markup. We should start seeing the increases by retailers in the next month or two, when their old inventory runs out and they re-order. Has anybody else heard about these increases?

I bought a Spartan a few months ago. At the same site the price is + $13.00. They can keep their knives. I refuse to be played.

This one isn't limited to Cold Steel, most manufacturers are raising prices across the board due to material costs going up.
Many are raising prices MORE than their costs are rising. They are all looking at this as an opportunity to make a payday. "Make hay while the sun shines"

Some have been jacking their prices for years (Spyderco and Benchmade)

Forget about the CS fans and Knifeknuts who like Cold Steel….even among the non-knife people CS always had a reputation for providing quality items at a working man’s price. I remember seeing a well known utube Gun guy stating that CS (in his opinion) was hands down the most bang for your buck.

Between MAP pricing and rising prices I will wait this out. My one man boycott of Cold Steel, Spyderco, and Benchmade.

MAP pricing made me step back from Benchmade. Later the same with Spyderco. Those prices have increased so much that a modest increase from Cold Steel will still leave them as the best bargain for the money in their class.
I definitely believe that MAP pricing discourages competition among retailers. Isn t capitalism with its inherent competition the basis for the strength of our economy in the world?

Going up 15-20% in one year is a little hard to take. This may reflect the new managements realization that this increase will still leave CS priced lower than many comparable brands.

I remember when BM started MAP. The Griptilian went from a common price of 65.00 to 106.00 in one year. The rest of the models went up by the same degree. Except for a Ritter Grip, that was the end of Benchmade for me. Then Spyderco, my favorite at the time, phased in the same kind of raises over 2-3 years. Caused me to find Cold Steel.

Hopefully the new management will realize that the relative low prices for Cold Steel s quality is probably the strength of the company and a big driver of its successful competition with other brands, despite the marketing.

Thankfully I got most of the designs that I prioritized through the years. I don't have to hold my nose and eat those new prices. One piece that I surely didn't need, but kind of sort of wanted, was $99.00 around here last year. This year it's $130.00. It's AUS10 instead of 8, but the value to interest scale tipped toward....forget it.

G ... what a surprise ... what isn't going up in price?
Seems since the Covids struck, prices on (almost) everything (I'm not sure of the stock market) is skyrocketing. 🤬
(naturally, retirement "income" is holding steady ... 😭)

I've been checking almost daily the prices on the most competitive store here in Latin America. One month ago, there was a price raise of almost 30% in the few items they offer here. The price raise of the Recon 1 was 75%! Luckily, I pulled the trigger just before that. In the Latin America reality, it's acceptable to pay $150 for a Recon, and it's even a good price, but $260? No way.

Inflation is high here too, but these raises are much above the inflation.
