Just recieved my new 4" Talwar and the build quality on it is spot on again. They say a picture says a thousand words:

Lock up is ridiculous as always, look at the size of that stop pin

Just finished oiling the blade and reversing the clip for left handed carry. Thanks again for a quality product Cold Steel !

The 4" Talwar is a great little knife (and it shows how long I've been around Cold Steel products that I regard 4" as small, my first was a G10 Espada XL).

The exemplary quality control is one of the biggest reasons I buy Cold Steel. I know I'm getting a knife with no play or serious flaws. It's going to be sharp out of the box and will continue to satisfy my cutting needs until it needs sharpening - A process that, with most Cold Steel products, is almost obnoxiously easy.

I will likely be getting a Talwar soon.

Great looking knife!
How does it feel in hand?

It actually takes some getting used to. When you're used to handling a recon 1 there's a noticeable difference in overall feel. I can't (yet) say if it's better or worse though, it's just very different. The forward portion of the handle is pretty slim in comparison to the Recon 1 and the curved handle seems to naturally favor a saber grip

Since the handle is somewhat slimmer I've noticed when the blade hits harder material like wood, vibrations resonate in the handle more. It's no deal breaker but it's worth mentioning. All in all I think I need to spend more time with the knife to get used to it. I'll be back to let you guys know how I liked it.

Lol btw also worth mentioning is that my sheeple friends who are used to me carrying all sorts of folders were pretty shook up when I waved it from my pocket to open a sealed packed. I might as well have pulled out a nuclear device. :D

I'm just saying this is one of those blades you might want to be more aware of your surroundings with. ;)

You are aware that they have the 5.5 inch XL model, right?

I think the XL is supposed to hold us over until the 8.0" King Kong Talwar is released in March. The one with a mirror polished blade and Powernoodle Blue G10.

Not really. But a boy can dream, can't he?

(chuckle) :D That's another thing that I like about C.S. They aren't afraid to GO FOR IT with new designs and blade lengths. For the O.P., every one of my C.S. folders had perfect fit\finish and were razor sharp out of the box. I can't say that about a few of my other big name factory F.B.'s.

Yes but I like 6" or more All my carry folding knives are at least 6" So 7" better 8" I would be dancing in the street . Reach and leverage The Cold Steel way. I don't live in Texas where 5 1/2" max . I can carry what I want . I have a Concealed weapon permit . So even if micky mouse town say 3" .Tuff my permit over rides . We have no law on length. I know of on book for state might be some town around does. Pretty gun and knife friendly here.

One I don't own, but really want.

The triad lock, combined with the G10 handles, full flat grind, and the pocket hook/thumb stud is just an unbeatable combo in my book.
