Cold Steel R1 military Classic

Anyone out there have any experience with the Cold Steel R1 military Classic? The one I have is marked "400 Series Stainless" versus the 8A on the one in their catalog.

I bought it second hand for about $80

Opinions? Owners?
 
I've got an R1 that is also marked 400 series stainless. Its not the kraton handled knife. Mine is very nicely made and so far I like it although you will see alot of criticisms in regard to Cold steels 420 stainless.

The AUS 8 constructed R1 is a great knife... took one through jungle trekking in the Dominican Republic and another one in the jungles in Taiwan. My only complaint is that the accompanying sheath in current production is soft and shoddy.

420 steel is soft and needs to be thinly ground for a razor sharp edge. If you use one of these for rough stuff, you'll be using the stone a lot.
