I've been on the fence about whether I should buy one of these or not for quite a while. Once I saw the youtube video of the Rajah II being beat to a pulp, I figured I'd give it a try. Although I won't have much yard work to do until the spring, I'll give my initial impressions,.

Everyone who reviews one of these always starts by saying how big the Rajah II is , and it is. But unlike other large folders, I really enjoy carrying this knife and for its size it really carries well.

As far as quality, the knife looks and feels like a well built tool. I actually bought the II instead if the original Rajah because the II looked more like a work knife.

**there's an extra clip included for southpaws**

One feature I really like and never even considered when I bought it, is the thumb plate that allows the knife to be "waved" open. I have several Emerson knives with the wave feature, but this knife is easier for me to control. It's so well balanced that you can adjust how much of the blade deploys just my adjusting your draw. But the bottom line is ....it always opens.

I've been carrying the knife for about two weeks ( on weekends) and like it better than any of my large folders.

I haven't really used it for any heavy work , but I'm sure the knife can handle anything. The Triad Lock is very reassuring... Andrew Demko designed a great variation of the lock-back.

There is one negative comment I have, my daughter has been trying to liberate this knife from me ever since I got it.

Nice. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts after using it for yard work.

Have you seen the battoning vids by this bloke? http://www.youtube.com/user/MarceloDiMarco

He organizes monthly get togethers for some knife enthusiasts in Argentina and he's always doing crazy stuff with his Rajah II. I'm not a fan of the knife but I've seen it take incredible punishment with my own eyes, I've got to admit it's tough as a coffin nail.

Last Sunday he chopped a wooden board in half with the blade spine and the lock held. I'm not sure why one would need to do something like that, but the Rajah II can do it.

Yes I've seen a few of his videos. But the one that impressed me the most is where they were chopping a log with it and then tried to get the lock to fail by using a weight to create downward pressure.

what kind of price do they run? :)

About $90 for the Rajah II. Amazon had the lowest price when I bought my knife.

A few weeks before I bought the II, I found a regular Rajah on sale for $160, but procrastinated for a few days and .....well when you snooze you lose.:)

The Rajah looks like a great deal, even though it doesn't look very practical. Where I would end up using it, I could just as well use a fixed blade. But that doesn't change how cool it is.

The thing I like the most is how easy it snags the pocket and opens. All you have to do is draw the knife out of your pocket and it's open. It works equally well with jeans.
