I really like the feel and the Ultra Lock seems solid on the Recon I played with. I've never owned a CS product so I'm wondering how they hold up, particularly the Recon-1. Anyone have a Recon-1 for a long time and how's it holding up, particularly the lock? Thank you.

Own two, one half serrated tanto and a plain clip point. Through the modest amount of beating I've subjected both knives to they've held up well. The locks are just as tight today as when I bought them (about a year). I bought them and continue to use them as "beater" knives, the kind of folder you leave in a coat pocket or other handy place and use for whatever job comes up around the house/yard. Good lock, good middle of the road stainless steel, O/A good knife maybe a little pricey, but, not ridiculously so.

I have had one for about a year. Done some light chopping and such with it and its held up fine. Lock is still solid as when I got it.

mine is about 9 years old. One of the zytel handled ones. Still locks up as tight as ever

I've had one for around 3 years, lock is still as tight as when I got it. Very solid knife for the $65 dollar price bracket.

Like waveman said, just a good solid knife you won't be afraid to use as a beater. I keep mine in the center console of my S.U.V.

I've seen one chop through bones, it's amazingly sharp right out of the box, and the guy on the free cold steel video hangs form the locks, so seems pretty solid to me.

6" Ti-lite, never knew it would be so huge when i bought it on the internet. don't carry it really.
And a Cold Steel Recon Tanto. Got this one from a dealer that still had them
in the Carbon V steel. Now they use Aus 8
Cold steel Recon 1, combo edge tanto point, very strong.

I own a Recon 1 spear point, is one of my best folders, strong, reliable, easy to sharpen... I really like it.
I've had it for 2 years and goes with me everywere I need a reliable folder. I used ocasionally for chopping some wood for fire and lock is still like new.
Go for it!

had one. it lasted about a year, then snapped at the thumbstud while i was prying the last 2x4 off a piece of plywood.
the lock's still solid, most of the coating's still on the blade, and the blade's still sharp.... both pieces. i'd like to replace it someday.
