Hey guys, I just picked up the CS Recon 1 on this black friday, i really like this knife, but when i was using it yesterday, i realized this problem: when the blade is in open position, if i hold the end of the handle and shake it side to side, i can hear a clicking sound from the pivot screw, but the blade locks tight and doesn't have any side to side play; and also there is no sound when shaking up and down and also no sound when the blade is closed. has anyone here experienced this problem before, I really appreciate if anybody knows the reason or provides a solution, thanks in advance!

It might be a pin that isn't under tension. I doubt its a problem. My buck vantage avid has a hidden stop pin that rattles sometimes and I know of Emersons that rattle too.

thanks for the reply, i think it's not a big deal since the blade still locks very solid, but it's just kinda annoying :( i wonder if i am able to ajust it. it's like a lock back, i've checked that there's nothing moving that i can visually see, neither on the handel nor on the blade, so it's only possible that something inside the pivot screw is loose and it dose sound like the noise is comming from it...

Man, as soon as I read your post I whipped out my Recon 1 and have absolutly no noise or anything rattling or loose when shaking like you said.... I'd check the pins like advised earlier....Good Luck! When my pivot screw gets loose my blade rattles a little while closed however.... Tighten that dude up and check it..

True, and it is the case for my CCC11

This is pretty easy to fix. Take the handles apart and put a tiny drop of loctite or some teflon tape on both sides of the pin. My cqc7 is now silent no matter how much I shake the knife.

Try tightening everything up a bit and a dab of loctite wouldn't hurt either.

I have three of the Recons two Ultra's and one Tri Ad, they all like up like ducks butt in water.
