i love the knife, i love the tri-ad lock, i like the tanto better the the clip point, but love the drop point the best!

my suggestions to cold steel so they could sell a million more knives then they do know lol.

make a drop point version!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and use better steel!!!!!!!!!! cough 154cm cough!!!!!!!

here is my fix to this problem i will be keeping the tanto blade just in case i want to beat it up a little lol

it is kind of hard to see

i am hoping to get this started soon i will update with more pics when i get the steel in and get started :D

i also think i will be making 2 but who knows :D

also the blade is a 1/4" shorter then the original no biggy

Looks like a fun project, just remember to go slow and take your time cutting the lock slot, etc.

Are you going to add thumb studs or anything for opening? Perhaps a wave hook:D

i was thinking of adding a small thumb ramp with original stud or a wave i dont know yet :D

Your blade style is classic, useful, simplicity, perfect for the Recon.

honestly i think most any blade profiles would look pretty good on those recon handles, drop point is no exception. like all the others said go slow, its easier to take metal off then to put it back on

on top of my reblade project i have sanded the g10 just under the cilp it self, works just as good as sanding the whole bottom half of the g10 just looks a lot better:D i also cut the g10 out where the lanyard hole is so that my lanyard now only holds on to the aluminum spacer much better also :D

Pretty cool!

I have a recon 1 (old and new version. The old version has the tanto, new version with the triad lock is the clip point version.

I have some pieces of Infi, but one piece is convex ground, so I would need a surface grinder to be able to create a flat for the pivot point.

I'm going to be watching closely, as I just bought a beater Lawman. As you can see from the pic, it got in a fight with a grinder and lost. CS won't replace the blade - even though I offered to pay - so its up to me to give it some love.

I was gonna say , just buy an American Lawman and you got your drop point , but you're still in Aus8 territory :D

Good idea ! I wish CS would use steels like 154CM , or VG10 in folders but then I bet the price would raise significantly as well.

i would pay 150$ for a recon in 154cm and 200$ for a recon in s30v!!!!!!!!!!

i have been thinking that sense i am going to be making a new blade for it i was thinking of changing the original blade let me know what you think some of them might seem like the same but they are slightly diff .

which one do you like post the number above the blade that you like

It really doesn't matter what we like. pick the one you like and go crazy. our opinion may be worth something, but in the end, it is your knife, and your decision.

Agree with Singularity on those shapes. A drop point like the American Lawman could be salvaged from that tanto and would constitute an improvement, IMO.

wow looks sweet...the only reason i didn't buy this knife is cz cold steel won't stop using aus8 so i went for an emerson. but i really wish cold steel can offer an upgrade to the aus8....
