The thin teflon washers would appear to the the first (and only?) thing to break on a CS Recon 1.

I wonder if they could be removed and only keep the phosphor bronze washers.

Would that noticeably affect left-right blade play? Would it have any negative effects that I'm not aware of?

Thank you.

Background info where I live:
I can only order the knife online.
I can't order and return.
I also can't order thicker aftermarket washers.

I have taken my G-10 scale only CS knives apart, dropped the washers, folded the washers, and never had an issue or wear show up.

I would guess that if you really wanted to, you could go with double pb washers without much issue, but I have never seen a problem with the Teflon ones

get a good pair of calipers if you don't already have them....

whatever you decide to drop in there try to match the factory specs of what you take out...

Cold Steel Recon line is as hardy as they come but you could be affecting the action of the pivot adversely if you don't get the specs dialed in matching the factory. It might not run as smooth as with the OEM parts.

May have some wear and safety issues arise too if you don't match up close to perfect.
