I've been searching the forums to see if anyone has bought one of the new Cold Steel Recon Scouts with the SK-5 steel.
I'm curious - does anyone know where these are made???

(I've been trying to find pics of the opposite side of the blade to see if there's a "Made in...." stamping, but haven't been able to find one.)

Are they made in China? Taiwan? Japan? ???

Thanks,
Mike

SK-5 is a Japanese variant of an American carbon steel, I believe I read somewhere that it's similar to 1085.

I would believe, since it's a Japanese variant, the knife would be made in Japan. That, however, is just an educated guess.

God bless you, America, and our men and women overseas.

KATN,

Wade

I don't think the knives are made in mainland China. I've not seen any knives with Japanese steel that were. I have seen knives with Japaneses steel made in both Taiwan and Japan.
