Ive heard that cold steels recon tanto blades are made by camillus.
Can anyone confirm this?

Now, that was pretty funny. :D

rev.....I'd say that topic is a mite touchy right about now.....no?

This is one of those "don't ask, don't tell" questions. To make a long story short, cold steel does have (or at least at one point did) their high carbon steel blades made by a certain other US knife company under contract whose name may start with a C ;) Really though most folks on this board myself included don't have anything more than secondhand evidence or "no comment" remarks to go off of.

I thought your timing seemed.....well, unfortunate....considering the Recon Scout thread in the Blade Discussion Forum. Maybe just coincidence.

Bill,
i see what your saying. the reason I asked is because I have a recon tanto on order and someone had said that camillus made the blades. I was a little surprised by this.

Just remember that while there may be many brands of knives, there are really quite few major manufacturers of sporting cutlery.

This is true, take for instance, camillus makes remington's knives. They did in the 1930's (if I remember correctly, or it may be in the early 40's). They also do now.

Camillus has made knives for others, schrade use to. Schrade made some of the buck stockmans, camillus also made some. Queen has made them for others. Boker makes henckels whittlers now and the list goes on and on, etc. etc. etc. Many have done contract work for each other, its been that way for over a 100+ years.

Just like the old primbles, made by different companies. Now the rights to it are owned by bluegrass cutlery.

They also made the Cold Steel Country Classics line, and I'M STILL LOOKING FOR A COLD STEEL OZARK HUNTER. Any help is appreciated, thanks :D

Damn fine looking knife. I'm really suprised that CS doesn't market that knife anymore. Wish I would have bought one while I had the chance.
