Cold Steel Safe Maker 1 Sheath Modification

I recently purchased the 4.5 inch bladed Safe Maker 1, and I'm very happy with the knife itself. The sheath is good in some ways, but there's a serious problem. The retention is the strongest I've ever encountered in a sheath, and there's zero rattling or movement, so that part's good. But drawing the knife takes two hands, with one to hold the sheath itself. If I try a one-handed draw, the sheath will come with the knife, popping off my belt. I can't afford a custom sheath right now, and the only "fix" I can think of currently is to use a bonding agent to secure the belt clip closed so it cannot come open. I'd have to feed my belt through the hole, rather than being able to clip/unclip the knife without removing the belt, but at least I'd be able to draw with one hand. I'm hesitant to do this though, because it will permanently alter the sheath. Are there any other alternatives, other than ordering a custom sheath?

I have the same problem with a phone case. Can you fasten a zip tie around the clip and the "base plate"? This may only work with a rotating sheath setup.

I've thought about that, but I'm not sure how secure that would be. It would also make taking the sheath off my belt a bit of a process. But it's a thought. One commenter in a review video I saw said they tried WD-40 and repeated drawing to loosen it up a bit. I tried that, and it didn't do much for me. But maybe I need to give it a bit more time. It's too bad this is an issue, because it's not as if the strong retention makes it difficult to pull out. There's just enough resistance that the clip often pops off my belt instead. If I tighten my belt up it doesn't happen, but that's not really a good solution either.
