I am interested in a safemaker.I hear CS is using a cheaper steel for these knives now.But do they still come razor sharp out of the box like they used to?Thanks for any info.

Hi RAGS! Had to run get my Special Projects catalog.

You mean "Safe Keeper." The push daggers.

The SK II is a 3.6 oz./3.5" long double edged blade.

The SK III is a 3.7 oz./2.5" long single edged blade.

Both are listed as being made of "420 Sub Zero Quench" steel (not "surgical," unfortunately :) ).

The SK I was probably the older model, which doesn't seem to be offered any more?

I recently purchased an SRK factory second which seemed pretty sharp, but those are of "Carbon V."

Sorry I'm not more help.

Yes,thats the one I'm talking about. The safe keeper II. I have an older one that I got over 10 years ago.It came razor sharp out of the box.I was just wondering if the newer models do also.
