I been owned alot of Cold Steel Sword and Knives in the past. Just brought the Outdoorman San Mai Version, it look and feel super nice, but i encounter a problem.
After i clean clean the knife, with hot water, i was make it wipe it of dry and also used power that i used to clean my sword on the blade, and then oil, wipe it again super clean. Sheath it for 2 day. now i see a orange rust at the guard and the blade.
It is so easy to rust, i cant clean the part inside the between the blade and the guard. Cant reach it, and cant take it apart also. WHAT CAN I DO?
I return this one, brought another one. BUT after i receive it, i notice the san mai on this new blade is not even like the 1st one. OMG return the second time. The third one is one the way, Hope it good this time, otherwise i am done with this Outdoorman.

This is the 9th Knife from Cold Steel, but full of problem.

Are you sure they're authentic? Do they actually have the lamination line?

i dont know how to post picture on here, but yes, the first blade i receive is perfect san mai, the line is very even, but the second one is off uneven both side

it is Authentic, i own the OSS in San Mai, i do see the Line here, and it perfect on the first one, just not on the second one, it more like the curve instead of even parallel to the shape of the knife on the second one.

It's nice to have the lines even , but not a functional issue .

Amazon.com, itself as seller, is usually reliable ;and I've never heard of a Cold Steel with San Mai lines being fake .

So ...I'm at a loss about your rust problem . San Mai should not rust so easily !

Sometimes some metal powder from manufacturing or environment can contaminate a knife and appear as blade rust .

But if you've cleaned and polished , and still have the problem ...IDK .

I dont have the picture of the rust, it at the point where the blade and the guard join, water suck in there, it like a hair line gap, i cant clean it out

If you want to try a DIY fix , maybe try to force some silicone or other clear sealer into that cap and remove all excess .

Or ask here about a fix : https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/maintenance-tinkering-embellishment.794/
That is what i think it, need to find something to seal that hair line gap, so i dont have to worry about it anymore. I eventually have to wash it with water at some point, it is hard to avoid water getting in to the gap.

Good ideal, thank you.
