cold steel Scimitar

Very Sharp and pointy. I love the ergos of mine. It feels good in the hand. Standard sharp as hell CS Edge. Mine is the black bladed version. It looks kinda sinister. I like it. The biggest issue I have with it is that it's a little wider than I like my pocket knives. It just feels a little bigger than I want it to. I know this isn't much of a review so if you want any more info let me know. Basically it's a cool piece that cuts well and looks evil. It's got a sweet handle and it's a little bigger than I like em.

Thanks for the super brief review Chambers.
Well, I just ordered my Scimitar a few minutes ago. It's the teflon coated one, yet I got it for a sale price of just $65!
Some details from anyone would be nice.
I'll get back to you all with what I think of it when it arrives.
 :)

Wiseguy,

I've carried my Scimitar for a little while, but only used it to cut ribbons at a bridal shower (so all of the kids could take home helium balloons or breathe in the helium).

It's edge was like any other fully-serrated AUS-8A edge done by Cold Steel which is very good.

The leaf-spring lock is very secure and reassuring (that's hard to say for most liner locks) and the action is buttery smooth.

The upswept trailing point blade does well at most types of cutting, but may take some adaptation if you're used to straighter blades.

The pommel makes the knife look 'weapony' and the 4" blade length (with the edge being longer due to its upswept shape) may be a bit much for some uses, but that's just a personal preference thing.

I have a plain-edge version with satin finish blade. I agree that the liner lock is VERY secure...it takes a real effort to unlock mine, which is a good thing. It certainly is perhaps the most secure-feeling liner locking knife I own. I'm sure part of that must have to do with the way the liner is folded over the way it is...a very well-thought-out touch.

The knife is very ergonomic, though I have not actually put mine to a whole lot of use at this time due to being still committed to using others of my knives for the time being, but plan on doing so more in future.

Just got mine in the mail today.
First Impression: love it!
Current Impression: Still love it!

The blade is as sharp as heck. I've cut paper and string with almost no friction whatsoever. IT feels like I could cut dow a tree with this thing!
The handle is great, fits my hand well. The pommel is my favorite. I banged it against wood really hard. Result: no damage to pommel. The size and weight is perfect, and I can flip the blade open quickly with one hand.

For the past few hours, I've taken the knife out of my pocket every couple minutes just to admire its awsomness.

BTW: mine is the teflon coated one.

I was reading Bill Bagwell's column in Soldier of Fortune mag a while ago - and guess what folder he carries in addition to his Hell's Belle bowie? Yep - you guessed it, a Cold Steel Scimitar, fully serrated model!

I guess if it's good enough for Bill, it's gotta be alright! (It's on my list of knives to get but there are so many others fighting for attention...)

Cheers,

Yep, sweet knife.
I tried the pommel thing again, this time with no mercy.
I was surprised to find it took a small scrape off the zytel with with it. :(

I've had a Scimitar for about three years, and after light usage, the liner lock goes all the way over and the blade is loose. I can find no way to re-adjust it. Calls to Cold Steel did no good. Oh, they will fix it, but for what it would cost, I'll spend my money on a Spyderco. Nice knife design, but a dissapointment. The new Schempp Persian from Spyderco is three times the knife, both in build quality and steel.

My Scimitar has minor blade play similar to my Spydie Chinook but still has solid lock-up.I've used mine to cut cardboard, old sofas, pumpkins and is still a very reliable knife.I love to "attack" items with my blades.;)
