Hello all I enjoy woods time which obviously means sharps are a big part of what I do . After years of contemplating I pulled the trigger on a CS shovel . I've had mine roughly a week and must say I'm Impressed with what it can accomplish . No it's not a master of all/only take one tool with you type of deal . It really doesn't excel at any particular task , but will suffice if needed to cover a myriad of out doors task if need be
It will dig , chop , plane to a degree , slice , break through ice and so much more that I'm sure I'm missing . I always take multiple tools when brush bumming . Ive tried this shovel in every aspect listed and have achieved favorable results with nothing more than maintenance- touching up the edge with a file . There has been no major damage and I haven't been gentle at all . For $25 I can't think of another tool in my possession that I would put through this and actually expect it to perform across this wide a range of task . Nor would I put anther tool through it. I wouldn't dig , chop , pry rocks or a few other things I've done to this shovel with any knife and wouldn't be all to enthusiastic about using my axes or hatchets . Anyone else have experience with the CS shovel I'd like to hear or see what ever you'd like to share good or bad .

Put a sharp edge on at least one of the sides and/or front halves.... much more fun will ensue.

I briefly contemplated the CS but ended up with a Russian titanium shovel instead.

I have two CS shovels. I liked the platform so much, I got a second one, stained the handle, and painted the head OD green to give it a Russian milsurp look.

I like the Russian milsurp look also. Would like to put a little more of a ball on the end of the CS handle, too.

So cheap and easy to customize you can match them to every vehicle (or outfit ;))

I used mine last night to shovel the snow away from the backyard gate. for snow, I like a bit more of a scoop shape, but it'll do in a pinch. also, my snow shovels can't chop near as well. it's a great tool overall.
