so i got my first spartan 3 days ago....im mad....the blade rusted from carrying it in my pocket...and it came dull...disappointed smh -_-

That's the one consistent complaint about the Spartan: the bead-blasted blade finish makes the knife very rust-prone. Get some Flitz or other metal polish and polish it up a bit; the smoother surface will make it more resistant to rust. Also coat it with oil, Tuf-Glide, Boeshield, or some other corrosion inhibitor for additional protection.

Bead blast is just a dumb finish, unless it's H1. A satin finish isn't difficult to do in its basic form (a wire brush or the like will do it in a few minutes), and it makes the steel a lot less prone to rusting.

Yeap , hopefully the entire industry will wake up to what a crappy finish beadblasting is and move on to something else.

As far as getting a dull Spartan ? I've bought knives costing much more from companies that everyone assumes are better at making knives , that were dull out of the box.

Sharpen it and move on with your life.

I don't get why CS doesn't use krupp 4116 more. I own some like that and they just won't rust. Even the 10 euro kudu I submerged in vinegar didn't.

But yeah, a fine satin finish might fix it and if it doesn't a mirror polish will. You'll find how-to's for the mirror polish everywhere: specifically for the spartan on the CS forums.

Agreed on bead-blasted finishes needing to go the way of the dodo. I hate them. They make the blade significantly more corrosion-prone, and on top of that I think they're just plain unattractive compared to pretty much every other type of finish (including coated blades).

Gots me some of that Krupp and its good stuff, fo' sho'. CS does somethings good (American Lawman) and others, are way beyond my comprehension (XL Espada). But, hey, ya takes the good with the bad.

Clean that Spartan up, and go whoops something with it. :D
