Cold Steel Spartan

I own one because it looked cool but it is way too big to carry edc. It's a huge knife and not super comfortable to use, it sees no time in my pocket and wish I had spent the money on another endura 4 or something.

Is too big,but very cool

I wear cargo shorts all the time, so for me the Spartan isn't really a bother. I probably wouldn't carry it all the time if I could carry a gun through a CCW, since I'm 18. But I love the knife, even though it is AUS8 steel, it will never be used for every day cutting tasks.

For about $55, you can't go wrong. It's a triad lock that is very strong, IMO comparable to the AXIS lock. The pocket-snag mechanism works very well and it snaps out with authority. Definitely one of my favorite knives.

But, I'm 18. Probably shouldn't take alot of advice from me.

I have a brand new one that I just got back from Cold steel as a replacement for a Spartan Blem I bought. I only took it out of the box and wasn't as interested as I was when I first got it. Now it's sitting on my desk inside it's box and I don't know what to do with it. Oh well...

Worth every penny.

So long as you know what you're buying. The Spartan is huge. If you like huge knives you aren't going to find one that compares to it at the same price point. Aside from the sheer size you also get the tri ad lock. Which is way stronger then you'll ever need.

People always slam AUS 8 steel as if it were in the same class as mystery stainless steel. People who actually use cold steels knives don't see a problem.

Hard to justify buying a Spartan when ZT knives does the jobs better. If I was more aware of ZT being an option before I got this Spartan last year, I would have not gotten the Spartan. I would have gotten the ZT or two and never look back.

I modded mine and love it!
