Cold Steel Special Projects catalog arrived in the mail this morning. I was interested to note that somewhere near the middle they are selling Spyderco "Sharpmakers".

Of course they don't tell you that is made by Spyderco, but they do show a picture and they call it a "Sharpmaker" (TM) and . . . "Recomended for all of our fine blades."

I remember that Cold Steel were the first quality knives that I bought when I started to collect knives seriously. This was well before I found this forum or Spyderco. I ordered a sharpmaker from the Cold Steel catalog to try and sharpen those micro-serrations on one of my Voyagers. I never was able to get that knife as sharp as it came out of the box and wound up giving to my sister to carry in her purse. A FS Endura is now my choice as a daily carry work knife and I have no problems getting it wicked sharp after using it heavily.

Dudes - There were lots of manufacturer bashing in the riposte column on the CS Special Projects catalog.
But Lynn Thompson did spoke highly of Sal and Spyderco in the "Spyderco Story" and I guess CS recommended the Sharpmaker due to its ease of use and capability in maintaining their blades razor sharp!

Check out the 204 which is packaged with an instructional video. You'll get to see Sal guiding you all the way in sharpening steps using the Sharpmaker!
Its the most awesome visual aid I've ever came across. The 204 ROCKS!
