Here is the Taichung factory adress for Spyderco, not sure about the cold steel though

No.30, Aly. 37, Ln. 503, Sec. 3, Xinan Rd., Wuri Dist., Taichung City 414, Taiwan.

The Taiwan factories will probably be easier to trace. China has over 1500 factories in Yangjiang so tracing there would be quite a feat.

Anyone like trying to figure out who shares an OEM? For example, I think Ontario RATs and KaBar Doziers are made in the same facility as Cold Steel folders.

Kershaw obviously found a new China OEM for some models. The newer Natrix variants and Sinkevich Tumbler are clearly not from the same place making the Cryo and Emerson series. The edge of my Tumbler looks so different from a regular Chinese Kershaw edge that if I didn't buy it in person at SMKW I'd wonder if it was a clone.

My son has a Kershaw Brawler. I have seen a HARNDS model that is the exact same thing. Exact. Never heard of a Harnds knife until then.

Yes, I have been thinking to maybe start my own line. Would like to contact some of manufacturers so I can make some calculations and see where I'm in all that.
I'm not big investor, just the guy with some knife ideas at mind.
It's difficult to find factories on made-in-china or some similar web sites since the real good ones are not there (like JOTI for example).
I'm from Europe, and there are some good factories here. I'm already getting some numbers from them. But, want to see what deal can get from asian ones. The ones that have good reputation with heat treatment and quality control

This should help you in finding more contacts;

Other idea - get in touch with the companies who are smaller but do have own factories, do have own production capacity.
CH Knife and Rike Knife may be such companies, those are companies owned by the brothers, may be a good idea to ask whether they have any spare production capacity and whether are interested in making OEMs for you.

Anyway, Good luck in your business development!

Neither Europe nor Asia is just one country. Within those groupings there are big differences in costs, quality, reliability and facility of carrying out business among the countries. Good luck.

I wonder whether this is the factory that makes the Cat or the other Spydercos since they do not mention some of the steels in higher end knives?

It's possible that the factory only stocks a basic range of steels on offer to new clients, and that Spyderco send them batches of steel for certain knives, so they don't offer those ones to other clients.

You would probably do a lot better hitting up a few shows. Blade, IWA, SHOT would let you meet up with people vs. cold calling their factories.

Unless you are already in Taiwan.

Who knows when will this situation ends and when will trade show start again... Can't wait that long
