anyone used Cold Steel SRK San Mai III? how does it compare to the Aus 8 version or the Falkniven A1? I have the SRK in Aus 8 and Kabar in stainless. I'm looking for another knife. I live and work within a mile from the ocean. I prefer stainless blades. biggest threat for me is tsunamis and hurricanes.

Google up H1. Spyderco uses it. Their fixed blades are not as thick but in stainlessness (is that a real word?) nothing beats it. If you need the weight as in chopping, Fallkniven A1 would be hard to beat IMHO. But the A1 would definitely be less stainless than H1.

Haven't used the San Mai III.
I have tested VG1 and AUS8 in side by side manila rope cutting.
VG1 holds an edge significantly better than AUS8.
Not sure how the San Mai III versions rate for toughness, but the VG1 version should hold an edge better.
