I was having a debate with a buddy of mine about these two. He reckons the Fallkniven is gonna be a better bet than the Cold Steel. I said he's just paying more for the fancy European name. :D

What say you dudes...... I'm a fan of VG-1 myself. Is Fallkniven's steel any better?

Cold Steel SRK, San Mai III - $107 @ Knives Plus.
Fallkniven AI, VG10 - Approximately $200 at various dealers.

If you ever break the SRK you can send it back to CS for a replacement. Can't find any waranty info on the Fallkniven site.

Personally I would get the SRK Aus8 version on sale now (http://www.knivesplus.com/coldsteelknifecs-38ck.html) for $71 dollars and use the crap out of it. If you fall in love with it you can get the San Mai version later and still be under the A1 price!

Or you can just do what most people on this forum do. Buy both...

The San Mai version is a satin finish blade and goes for around $130'ish. Very attractive knife - you might as well buy one or the other of the CS versions instead of 2 of them. Just my $.02 :)

Does Cold Steel offer lifetime warranty now? It used to be 5 years for their fixed blades.

Fallkniven makes top quality knives, well worth every penny of the price IMO. These are knives you can pass down to the next generation.

Fallkniven warranty is two years. Their philosophy is: if it is going to break due to a defect it will likely happen within the first two years, if it doesn't break, it will last a lifetime.

I can't speak to the Cold Steel because I have no experience with them.
