Hello everyone I could really use some help here about the SRK knives. I'm looking at picking one up but notice there is like 4 different models. Other then price is there a preference in the 4? Is one going to hold edge or something better? Any info would be greatly appreciated on this! Thanks in advance for any advice into this

Hi Switchblade, I have the SRK, this one
Specifications

Blade Length 6"
Overall Length 10 3/4"
Steel Japanese Aus 8A Stainless w/ Black Tuff-Ex™ Finish
Weight 8.2 oz
Blade Thickness 3/16"
Handle 4 3/4" Long Kray-Ex™
Sheath Secure-Ex® Sheath
This think is fantastic. One of the cheaper ones. Check out the Destruction youtube vids on these.
If you had to get 1 CS knife this is the one.
Hope that helps.

Hard to say. Someone would have to do a shootout between all 4 in order to pick winners in various areas: edge holding, toughness, ease-of-sharpening, etc. There are some theoretical differences between them, but they may not pan out in actual use or be applicable to your particular situation. 3V, for example, is super tough, but the SRK hasn't proven to be a delicate knife, regardless of steel. The VG-1 and San Mai should be more corrosion resistant, but with minimal maintenance the issue is rather moot, unless you're using the knife around salt water or something. If I didn't already have several SRKs (AUS-8, VG-1, and two old Carbon Vs), I'd probably wait for the SK-5 version to come out.

Anyone know an easy way to take the black coating off my srk? And if so is it worth it? Will it pit or rust faster like that? I really prefer satin or stripped blades.
