Cold Steel Survival Knife - Floats?

I have learned about the Cold Steel hollow handle survival knife, read some reviews and saw the video presentation that Cold Steel shows about this knife. I also can see the advantage of having a fire starter attached to the sheath and the hollow handle to store some tinder for a real emergency - in case everything is lost in a boating accident in cold water where a fire will be needed. I did not learn, though, if the knife will float if dopped in the water. A high visibility orange handle on a floating knife should be something very useful when working around water.

Does this Cold Steel knife float when dropped in water? Will this knife still float with some tinder material for fire starting inside the hollow handle?
I hope someone who has tried this knife can provide information.

The official name is Cold Steel Survival Edge. At least one company lists it for $18.95 by mail. It might be really useful to keep in a boat or dive bag, just in case.

This review says it floats, and I suspect it should if the cap is water-proof. It could depend on what you store in the handle though. Make it heavy enough and I would think it would sink!

Thank you, Ultraman, for the information. If I have the knife, I think I will only store some tinder in the hollow handle, just enough to be sure that a fire can be started.. The floating feature might be a good selling point to fishermen, boaters, SCUBA divers and other people working near water, I am surprised that the Cold Steel video did not mention this.:D

Probably because they cannot guarantee it. a couple tinder-quicks are different than a half dozen split shot.
