I have two of these, nice knives for the money. A lefty after my own heart and now I've got a new way to open the pickle jar! Thanks Stickman nice video and Thanks Jimislash for some more info. Cheers,

okay. hes digging dirt, cutting rope, chopping the meat, tossing the knife and sticking into the plywood. opening the jar, useless to do that way but fun to watch. this one was better.

What no prying or batoning or hammering, or using it as a step when jammed into a tree? Video rated not "extreme."

Swing and a miss.

1. What the hell is this "Stick Man" silliness? I understand that they want to create some kind of persona, but it seems forced and silly.
2. Who the hell is Jimmy Slash and why should I care what he thinks?
3. Cutting between the bones on a rack of ribs? Guys, what the hell. Cut through the rack, top to bottom, then throw the knife so that it sticks into a cow skull. Baton through a log, pry with the tip, use the damn knife HARD so that people come away impressed that it could do what you showed it doing.

1. not sure who started it but that Jimmie slash guy started calling him that. not sure he made it up though. that stick is silly in how big it is. his first video he had it...not sure why though.

2. a youtube reviewer fella from what I've seen. I'm not a reviewer fan but hes kinda funny sometimes. he might do all kinds of knives no idear. Ive only seen the videos posted here on cold steel stuff. not sure anyone needs to care. cold steel seems have have grabbed him as a regular on their videos though.

3.yeah true, but least he went after some meat and was able to throw the knife into the target that time. I still miss Lynn more than I thought I ever would. funny how that turned around on me.

They are slowly moving back to the old style of Cold Steel videos.
If you look at the comments on their most recent one you will see that stickboy responded to a few people.
He says he ordered the pig carcasses so expect to see them soon.
I want to see them return to the hard use stuff people have mentioned already, stabbing car hoods. Chopping through 2 x 4's, and the fantastic spine whack and weight hang tests. I also like the rope, bamboo, and rolled mat chopping, hopefully we will see them again soon.
I'm thinking about calling this forum to stickboys attention, and seeing if we can get him to come in and pick up the role of Cold Steel forum rep. (Unless that violates some board rule?)

Wouldn't think so. And in fact it could be considered the other way around...they're technically in violation of the rule that they must provide a mod to have their own sub-forum.

I think somebody with more knowledge and has taken the time to research CS Products. And has/is on here a lot would be better. Like .....you!

Thanks nephron, and to others who have suggested this. If they want to stick around as-is, then pretty sure they need to provide their own mod, which would generally be an employee. But if they don't do that, and this forum ends up getting moved to another area (like the Collector's forum), I would be happy to take on the mod role if Spark/BF deems me worthy.

Umm, OK. I have a couple of comments about the videos.

For those unfamiliar with him, JimiSlash was a regular contributor over on the Cold Steel Forums, back when they existed. He's just a knife guy and a Cold Steel fan, like the rest of us. He started making some YouTube videos about his collection and sharing his thoughts on new Cold Steel models. I guess he developed a following and got noticed by folks at GSM. Good for him.

While I appreciate Keith Beam's honesty, I have no idea why he, as "the new face" of Cold Steel, would openly admit that customers know more about Cold Steel than he does. How about you fix that, eh, maybe by frequenting this subforum and hanging out with the knowledgeable people here? Or perhaps you could hire someone who knows a lot about Cold Steel to give you some guidance?

I doubt he'll read this, but here's a bit more unsolicited advice for Mr. Beam. "Stick Man" was a derogatory name assigned by viewers who wondered why you were carrying a giant tree branch when you introduced yourself as the new Cold Steel representative. You may think you're showing good humor by running with the joke, but it comes across as tone-deaf. Put the yard debris in the trash can and focus on the Cold Steel merchandise.

Also, if you hope to ever convince us that GSM cares about Cold Steel as something other than a quick-profit speculation, you might want to stop calling Cold Steel products "units." I don't think you could come up with a more impersonal term if you tried! I don't have a forty-year-old collection of Cold Steel units. I'm not anxiously awaiting Cold Steel's next release of new units.

If that's all you think you're selling, please go back to hawking fishing lures and leave us alone with our memories of a company president who actually cared about the stuff he was making.

Mostly agree Steve, but do think the lack of knowledge approach is preferable to trying to fake it, which would be pretty obvious and come across even worse. Of course, if he's still doing that schtick months from now it will be just as bad. He needs to show some growth for it to "work." On the other hand, could all just be BS.

The knives etc are what is important to me, I did like many of the old videos, I don't think its possible to duplicate them either. Mr. Thompson being the owner and force behind CS was most unique. If they make some good new ones that is great but not really necessary IMHO, I get all of the information I need here with the "experts" that fueled my interest in CS again.
