Do the swords ever go on big sales like their knives? I'd like to get one before they too succumb to the 4116 junk.

On rare occasions, but I don't think we will see this anymore.

Unless I missed them somehow, Cold Steel did not have their annual 4th of July and Christmas sales this year. In these sales they often had closeouts and items they found that were no longer produced.

On the good side, their European swords are made by Windlass and their Japanese and Chinese swords by a known Chinese sword company and I don't think either of those are about to start using weird steel for their swords.

The only Cold Steel swords I have were purchased in 2006 during one of those sales. They are both Barongs (not Barong Machetes) and factory seconds which cost me $75.00 each.

Mentioned many times on this forum - Cold Steel was sold to GSM. Cold Steel, as part of the GSM corporation, is now located in Irving, TX 75061. Mostly, this has been seen as a negative.

The days of the Semi-Annual Sales and the Cold Steel Parking Lot Sale are now only whispered about in half truths, forgotten mysteries, and with overwhelming envy for those that were there in the time of legend.

"big sales" - Rarely, if ever. I can't think of any recent sales in which the swords were highly discounted. Try the secondary market, if you are looking for a user condition (cosmetic issues) sword you will have better luck with the price (based on condition).
