I have a Kobun, the handle is a bit narrow for field dressing but it's very tacky and has a good grip. To be honest I don't think it would work all that great for field dressing if you're concerned at all with poking into things that shouldn't exactly be poked into. However, the blades are strong, sharp and they seem to hold an edge well too. I think if one turned the tanto into more of a spanto (oriental curved style bottom edge as opposed to the sharp angle of the american style) it would probably work pretty good. I'm keeping mine as is though, can't beat it for changing someones mind when they want to permanently borrow any of your stuff...if you know what I mean.
