I have a Rigid RG 69 Bowie that is marked "U2X" Steel, It appears to be identical to a knife advertised for sale on Ebay as a Cold Steel Teton Bowie. Both knives are marked Seki Japan.
Does anyone have any information on these knives? What are they made of?
Thanks!

I've never heard of the CS teton bowie until now. I went and saw it at ebay and it looks like a CS Trailmaster in stainless steel. The current stainless trailmaster is made of AUS6 steel and also has a rolled edge. I have one and it is a good knife. Good for using. I don't really like the fact that it uses stainless steel, but I like the rolled edge. I think it cuts great and is easy to sharpen.

That Bowie was sold with the Rigid name and was later a Cutlery Shoppe exclusive with the Teton name. I don't think Cold Steel had any involvement with this piece.
Both Steven Dick and Greg Walker gave it high marks back when it was still made.
In profile it is much like the CS Trailmaster, but the blade is 1/4" thick instead of 5/16" like the TM. IMHO, the handle is alot more comfortable than the TM and the knife has a better overall feel also.
Very lively in the hand!

Scott-
A few years ago, I bought 2 of the Tetons from Cutlery Shoppe, and still have them in my 4 wheel drives to this day.I also still have the old catalogs they were advertised in, and they say they are AUS-8 steel.I bought them when they were $50 a piece, and their last run of selling them in their catalog, they went for $150 a piece, and said they would not be made anymore.
Have used them out camping etc., and they get real sharp, hold an edge well.I have a couple of scars to prove it.
I also had a CS Trailmaster at the time, but liked the Tetons better because being stainless, did not have to worry about rusting.
Hope this helps.

Many thanks to Rheet, Tenbeers, and LarryLuana, you have answered my question!! I am really impressed with the readers of this forum! There is a terrific pool of information here! Alot of the discussion is over my head because I'm not into high budget folders and custom knives. I've sold knives for a few years out west, but nobody would buy a lock blade there. It was cowboy country and people there mostly used their knives for ranch work. They are high carbon steel fans there, and German knives are really popular. I've moved to Florida and it's a different market here. I've learned alot from this forum and really enjoy it!!
Thanks again for your help!!!!
