Cold steel Throwers

I recently purchased six sure balance throwers from Cold Steel. Granted, they are not the most expensive knives, so I do not expect a great deal from them. Advertised as made from 1055 carbon steel, they are large knives, well balanced and throw well. On the negative side, I was a little disappointed that they are made in Taiwan. They are very pointed, too much so for a throwing knife IMHO. The edge is fairly sharp unnecessarily and needs to be dulled with a file. I have a target for each knife, log rounds, end grain to avoid collisions when throwing the knives, but the points still break. The edge and the point can be fixed easily with a file, but is it normal for them to break this easily. I am new to throwing knives and don't really know what I should expect from these knives. Overall they are good for the money I guess, am I being too critical.

CS 1055steel is great for making tough blades , and the retention is not poor , cool.

The points should not break off throwing knives unless they are defective. You should post a picture of the damage.

It was just the first 1/8 inch of a very pointed blade and I reshaped it with a metal file, not quite as pointed, but better I think.
