well, i was considering getting the cold steel Ti-Lite® with aluminum handles, 6 inch ... only 80 bucks figured i'd pick one up and try it out for EDC. Anyone had any problems with it? good purchase or no?
-Thanks

Great knife. I've had mine for 4 years and carry it regularly, BUT I carry a 4" for the obvious fact that a stiletto appearance blade 6" long may be illegal, and will certainly get you 'that look' ALOT! Not worth it for 2". At least my wife told me that for 20 years :(

The 6" is nice to have but is really not that practical for general EDC tasks. The 4" works better than I expected for most EDC uses. I have both and carry the 4" often. The edge holding capabilities were better than I expected and the knife is very sturdy. I did reprofile it to get a better edge angle. Both knives are a good deal in either the aluminum or xytel scales.

I had the 6" model years ago. It was a bit large for pocket carry. The 4" aluminum handled model is one I'd like to add to my collection some day.

+1 on the 4". I was fortunate enough to grab a VG-1 Titanium Ti-Lite, which is "An elegant weapon, for a more civilised age."

Never had the 6" but did own the 4". If the 6" is anything like it's smaller bro it should be a well made stabber. Super strong liner lock that is L shaped against the tang. The smaller one is still pretty impressive.

A 4" aluminum model has been on my radar for a while now, but a new Recon 1 spearpoint just kicked it back away's.

Lock-up on my 6" ti-lite is wobbly (up and down blade play) so it doesn't see much carry time at all... :thumbdn:

I edc'ed a 4 inch w/ xytel scales for about 1.5 to 2 years. I liked it and its still in great condition. I stopped carrying it for more multi-purpose designed knives but I have nothing but good things to say about the CS Ti-Lite.

i just gave a 6 incher away. the thing is so cool and fun. it comes razor sharp. only really practical for self defense of if you have heavy duty stabbing tasks.. its a lot bigger than you think. the lock up is pretty late, but it has the cold steel liner lock thats in the shape of an L so it does not make a difference i think. the lock is very hard to disengage. the 4 inch model is a lot easier to flick out, but that does not mean that the 6 inch version is hard. i plan on getting another one for my self. the knife is basically a weapon, even closed it serves as an impact device. check out the cold steel video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pJOH1RFH5k

The ti is one of my favorite designs... Ever. Home run for light use and defense.

4" user here.

I'm much too aesthetic when it comes to my tools and have had a soft spot for the Ti-Lites, but have held off in purchasing one for ages. They look killer. I can't bring myself to purchase one just yet, but might have to get one in the near future. They are kinda a legal alternative (if blade and OAL isn't an issue) of a sort to the typical automatic stilettos.

I have the 6" in Zytel. I can only reiterate what others have said. It's a big honkin' knife. It's very well made and strong with the great aforementioned L shaped liner lock. None of mine have ever had any blade play in any direction (I've had 2 4" as well), though I'm sure one slips through from time to time. Despite the long handle, it's very rigid with no perceivable flex. I imagine the alum. version would be even stouter. The blade is thick (near 3/16") and very narrow. When you combine this with the saber grind and long swedge, it definitely isn't a fine slicer. It's made specifically to be a stabber and slasher. Thumbstuds are difficult to use, but it flips open quite well (especially after some use) with a flick of the wrist. If you wish to use the wave feature, you'll need to lightly round the edges of the quillions or they'll tear the heck out of your pocket. You could definitely edc one, but it'll be far from optimal with its size, weight, and blade shape. It's definitely a cool knife, but mine (like others) doesn't see a lot of pocket time.

I have the 6" in Aluminum, and I just don't like it because of it's size. I'm probably going to sell it soon, I want to get a 4" Alum model; more practical.

I have the 4" with the Zytel Handles and I EDC it quite regularly, I only EDC it for SD as for a utility blade it ain't, it has one purpose and it's well designed for it.

The thumbstuds with a little practice fire the blade out with authority and locks with a very satisfyin' vault like click, it also has a very nice balance which makes it quick in the hands, it supports multiple grip styles equally well.

This knife is a needle and came hair poppin' sharp outta the box, I had some doubts when I traded for it here on the forums, I didn't think it handle well but I was surprised, like all my Cold Steel knives, I'm completely satified with the knife regardless of the negative hype some give CS here, the products are well worth their price point.

I can't speak for CS's Customer Service but I've had their products since the 80s and have never had a problem yet. If I were to lose I'd have to replace it.

Pull the trigger, I think you'll be pleased and if ya don't like it, I'm sure you can get rid of it in the exchnge, (or send me a pm we'll make sure it gets a good home. ;) ).

The 4 inch ones are fantastic flippers and decent EDC knives. The 6 inch ones, while I have no experience with them, would just be too big and threatening to justify carrying. That's almost 13 inches of knife when it's open.
