Cold Steel Ti-lite... bladeplay?

I got a ti-lite a couple of days ago, but never really played with it until now. It's got bladeplay. a decent amount. to the point where if i shake the knife i can hear the blade moving. Did anyone else have blade play problems with their ti-lite? It's driving me nuts. I have the cheaper one with the zytel handles. not the expensive one. :)
Thanks in advanced for some answers.

Vertical or horizontal? I've had my Ti-Lite for 4 months now. I use the wave a lot and flick it open a lot, and I don't have play in either direction. It seems like some of the liner has ground off due to wear (the liner has traveled further and is a bit looser), but the lock is still solid. If you're having horizontal play, tighten the pivot.

No i know, if it were horizontal blade play, i'd have no problem with tightening the pivot. but it's vertical. which strikes me odd. and it's brand new too. =(

That sounds like it should be sent back for warranty repair.

I had two (first year Ti handled versions) and they were tight and reliable.

I've got the same issue with a 4" zytel version. I haven't done anything with the knife but flick it open and the lockup has developed a bit of vertical play. The liner goes all the way over to where the detent ball is touching the other liner and not making solid contact with the tang, if that makes any sense. :D

i have a titanium one,its rock solid,no play either way.maybe thats why the zytel one is almost 1/3rd the price......

Well i would assume with the extra....120 dollars the titanium one's lock up better be damn rock solid. Haha, But even still, the one i bought i paid about 45 bucks for. It still shouldn't have any blade play. I have had 10 dollar knives that had no blade play and locked up solidly. Meh..
I sent an email to cold steel about this... they'll probably ask me to send it back huh?

Mine has horizontal bladeplay, to the point that I had to tighten the pivot enough that I need 2 hands to open it. I would have sent it back, but I kinda violated the warrantee by disassembling it and trying to see if I could fix it myself >.>

I have had the 4" Zytel model for two years I have never had a single issue with mine. Even threw it at a rat in the barn once ( I missed) and have had no isues, blade and lock up are solid.

It could be that the pivot is way too loose. I would at least try to adjust it and see what happens.

Well i actually did try that. I tightened it up a lot, i could barely open up the knife, but when i did there was no more vertical blade play. I've been playing around with the pivot, but it seems i have to tighten it up A LOT to have it have no bladeplay at all. I'l probably send it back. =(

I picked up a C.S. Ti-Lite, with the 4" blade and Zytel handle scales about 6 mos. ago. It had been converted to an Auto, one of only five. I EDC it, and it locks up tight today, as the day I recived it. When closed there is no blade play at all.

Sounds like your problem with excessive blade play is something that C.S. should fix under their warrenty.

CS will replace it. The zytel versions are made pretty well. Mine had 0 blade play.
