Cold Steel Ti-Lite - It Waves Open!!!

I got a 6" blade cold steel ti-lite with plastic grip. To my surprise and joy it waves open. The cross piece has ridges and if you position it right it will wave upon pulling out of the pocket.
It is a sturdy enough knife. I took the sharp blade to the spyderco sticks for a further sharpening and the AUS 8A responded well to shaving sharp and then some.
The balance is very nice. It feels sturdy. Closed it is a nice yawara stick. It flicks open. While I favor a blade with a broad belly for self defense this is a most respectable blade perhaps more of a thruster than a slasher.

Price is under $100 so it can be used as a beater or everyday knock around knife. If this fell and hit the concrete so what, if a $550 custom did that I would go nuts looking for scratches and nicks.

Pocket clip can not be moved, tip up for a right handed person.
This is heavy meaty knife suitable for one with large strong hands.
They do make it in a 4" too.

For the money a great value if you want a big 6" bladed knife that flicks and waves open.

Congratulations. I've never been able to get mine to wave open from the pocket. But my hat's off to you. The knife is a good slasher, plus it's ability to penetrate is impressive. To top everything, it's also a decent toy. I have one of them somewhere, but I don't know where it is.

I have had one for a while and while its not a very practical knife it sure is a lot of fun. mine waves open by the way

mine waves sometimes.the wave system is too crappy too be sure of it in a SD/emergency sistuation,so i don't use it
if you use the thumbstud its a decent knife, very solid voor such a thin stiletto model

I have had a few misses with the wave feature on the ti lite too but if you practice it gets more reliable. I like big knives and I like the wave, so there you have it. Dollar for Dollar heck it's a deal.

I always knew this from watching their "proof" videos, but even though its not that hard to do, those quillions/guard really rip your pockets apart! Very agressive tooling...sharp edges...

The 6 inch Ti Lite from Cold Steel is a lot of bang for your buck, a 6 inch long blade that is 4mm thick and made of Aus 8 Stainless is fantastic.

It’s definitely a slashing knife by all means but stabbing is where it is really at cause its really sleek and the point screams “stabby stabby stabby!” Even when closed it is also a great blunt object weapon if you don’t want to seriously injure/ kill someone in a fight, I love using it in Krav Maga for joint locks and short jabs into the ribs when grappling if you are unable to get the blade out.

The wave or what ever you really want to call it on the Ti Lite really chews up your pockets because it has a lot of ridges which are fairly sharp plus the length of the blade adds a lot of weight to opening so it’s not that easy to open like a Spyderco or Emerson knife with a wave feature, but using the thumb stud at a good angle kind of preloads the knife to spring open but be careful to not to cut your thumb because it takes a fair amount of pressure to spring it open with the thumb stud.

The ti lite is a great kunotan or yawara stock. It is solid, hefty and just feels good.
A lot of military people will tell you that the blade shape on the Ti-Lite is what they prefer for like stalking someone and stabbing them, the proverbial sentry as an example. This shape allows for easy penetration. it will slash real good but I always like a broad belly blade for that. Dollar for dollar it is a bargain and a half.

there are a lot of knives out there that can wave open
that one may initially not expect it to.

sometimes it's fun just to explore this aspect.
CRKT M21 SF, Boker Plus AF-TF1, CRKT Desert Cruiser SF,
a student of mine can wave the SUBCOM folder open.

You can wave the Boker RBB if you add a ziptie to the hole on the blade. Most knives with very large studs can be waved if attempted about 30% of the time so it's not the best idea.

Yep, I know I'm late to the party, but I just recently picked up a Ti Lite VI, and it IS impressive. This is my first CS linerlock and I love the design. It uses the traditional leaf spring affair, but the last inch of spring is bent over into an L shape. Not only does this give you a good thumbhold on the spring for closing but it also increses the area of tang ramp that's engaged by the spring. Nice and strong, I like it. The knife also features bronze washers (nice touch) and the handle despite its length is virtually flex free. Quite a feat considering its length and zytel scales. Nicely done. It's a big, heavy knife that really has extremely limited utility capabilities (clearly, it's designed as an "anti personnel" device), but it's a great knife just to have "for the hell of it," and it's very well made. I will definitely be smoothing the edges of the "quillions" to improve comfort, but that's about my only gripe. Two thumbs up!

hey i know im asking a dumb question but im still new to this knife thing n im planning on getting the ti lite.. what does waving mean?

Some knives have a feature on the balde that can catch on a pants pocket and cause the knife to open as you draw it out of the pocket. Spyderco, Emerson and Cold Stell have some like this. Do a search for ghetto wave and see how modify knives easily to do this.
