Initial Impressions
The Ti-Lite has the unmistakeable stylings of a 1950's switchblade which has been updated by the use of modern materials. The blade is made of AUS 8A Stainless Steel and the handle of CNC Milled Titanium. The knife was designed by Phil Boguszewski.
Fit & Finish
The knife pivots smoothly and the blade is nestled between 2 bushings. I'm not sure whether they are nylon or some other synthetic material but they dont appear to be bronze. the pivot can be tightened/loosened via a torx screw. The blade centers between the bolsters and the overall feel of the knife is very solid. Thumbstud works well and with a firm flick of the thumb the knife springs open. I am a lefty and since this knife is not ambidextrous it is not one I would personally purchase. The thumbstud appears to be reversible but the handle has a carved niche for the stud which would preclude reversal of said thumstud.
Blade
As mentioned previously, The 4" blade is made of AUS 8A which while not being a bad steel is certainly not my personal favorite. The grind lines are very even and the blade was delivered to my door with a razor sharp edge.
It has the familiar dagger type blade shape with a 2" false back edge.
Lock
Cold Steel touts its use of a full length titanium leaf spring liner lock. I am here to say IT'S A THUMB BUSTER. there is no question of accidentally disengaging the lock on this baby. I personally think the lock is overly stiff but it is definitely secure.
Closing Thoughts
This is a beautiful knife. It is definitely not sheeple friendly and the blade shape isnt quite utilitarian for my tastes, but it is a solid knife which im sure could handle most edc chores with aplomb.
A special thanks to Ayzianboy for providing his Ti-Lite to passaround.
Thanks,
