cold steel ti-lite

I do not in any way mean to discourage new responses, but you might also try the search function. There have been a number of prior discussions of this knife and people who have already posted once may not repeat.

I liked the feel of the knife when I originally handled it but thought the price was a bit high. However, I've recently seen some pretty decent sale prices on them.

coka-cola: I also was looking at the Ti Lite about a year ago. Glad I waited and did not buy one. Instead, look at the new Camillus Cuda Maxx 5.5. I don't own a Maxx yet, but the first responses are that it is first rate. Plus you can buy one for $135.00

Not only can you get the Maxx, which is a better value, but that Ti-lite is way too close to one of my favorite custom makers. Mayo, and as far as I know, there was no collaboration with him on it.

The collaboration was with Boguszewski. It really is more like a Spike than a TNT, except for the holes in the Ti handle. It's also a liner lock, not a framelock. The guards work like a Wave, or like the flippers on the Maxx. You could remove the thumbstud altogether.

I didn't like the clip, it spoiled the sleek lines of the design, so I removed it. Otherwise, it was a tough little knife, if somewhat expensive, but I got it at a decent price from Mike Dye at New Graham.

There is no comparison with the Maxx, of course, which is a much, much better knife. The only advantage of the Ti-Lite is that it is a bit more concealable :D

I was really excited when I first read about this knife. Then I handled a few and was very disappointed. The actions were gritty and notchy. Also, the top guard is facing the wrong way in the open position. The way it faces could cause abrasion and aggrivation to anyone holding the knife in the sabre grip, with the thumb resting on top of the handle. I like the sabre grip when doing fine work. For me to be happy with it, I felt that I would have to really work on the pivot action to smooth it out and do extensive Dremel work to the top guard. It just didn't seem worth the effort. I hope that CS will allow the design to evolve into a more useful tool.FWIW,YMMV.
