Cold Steel Ti-Lite

I'm considering buying a Cold Steel Ti-Lite. I haven't decided on the titanium or the zytel. My concern is which is the better way to go, price or quality. Cold Steel usually scores big in terms of quality, so I don't feel like I can miss either way, but is the zytel version acceptable? Also, who's got the best deals on these knives? I could also pick one up from an individual, just in case anyone has one they're interested in selling. Thanks.

There are better deals, but if a CS Ti_Lite is what you want, buy it. The zytel version uses a 440A blade, just FYI

I've checked out the Ti Lite and they are neat knives, just a little large for my taste. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for. Personally I like the ti, but I think that the ti handled model is very much overpriced. For that kind of cash I would get a ti handled Benchmade Osbourne.

Check Ebay for the Ti version, I've seen them go in the $70 range. While it's more expensive, I think the Ti will give greater pride in ownership in the long run.

I'm interested in any suggestions. I haven't seen the ti Benchmade Osbourne. Thanks for your help.

I've read some mixed reviews of this knife. Can anyone suggest a better quality knife of the same style at a similar price?

I have a CS Ti-Lite and I think it is a great knife. The clip was a little to tight but easily remedied. I used mine as an EDC but have now backed it to an SD folder. I prefer all metal so I have the Ti version.

I thought it was pretty neat. I got the Ti handle and it was very solid. With the grooved flippers, I could "wave" it open off just about anything, not just a pants pocket. It would open off a pants leg or a table edge or off the side of my hand. Didn't need to use a thumbstud. Touch the point to see how sharp it is and you will bleed.

The first thing I thought when I saw the Ti-lite was that the narrow blade would be perfect for reaming the anus when field-dressing a deer. I appears that it would be a lot handier for this purpose than my wider-bladed drop-point hunter. Since I carry at least three knives when hunting, adding one of these would be no big deal.

General EDC stuff. I like the look with the titanium handle. Zytel is OK if the ti version is out of reach. I have the Voyager 34LC and I like it a lot, but I want something with a bit more style. I also have a CRKT DOG that's nice, but heavy. I like the way the Ti-Lite deploys dfrom the pocket using the flipper. If so many people seem to not like the ti-lite, then I'd like to know what compares. I've had the Spydercos, Benchmades, and Kershaws. I just want something different that won't sacrifice my child's college education to own. Thanks for your help.

If you end up liking the Ti-Lite, keep an eye open for a used Benchmade Boguszewski Spike, large or small version, plain edge or serrated, manual or auto. They are long out of production but a classic clean-lined stiletto. The large is about the smae size and shape as a Pro-Tech Godfather, but I'd say the blade is sturdier.

Well, it finally came down to money. For $39, I got the zytel version. Let me tell you, for the money, hands down this was the best way to go. This knife is solid, built like a tank, and feels right in my hand. The steel is a well-treated 440A, but it's respectable and I love the feel of the 43% glass reinforced zytel handle. If I could change anything about it, I'd make the handle holes go all the way through the liners where possible. Other than that, Cold Steel never disappoints me. Thanks for the responses. Happy holidays!

I'm actually rather skeptical of getting the Ti version. I'll admit that the look of the knife is rather tempting, but I'm sure my CRKT M16 spearpoint isn't that much different from the Zytel version, and I know CRKT make good knives for their money.
Also I don't like Thompson's antics (ask the forumites), and I just won't see myself buying something from CS anytime soon.
