Cold Steel Tomahawks... disappointed.

I just received my norse hawk (five months after ordering), and have mixed feelings about it.

The edge is good, in fact good enough to arrive with about an inch sticking out of the box...

The blade is curved the wrong way, however. To clarify, if you are looking straight at the edge, it curves about 15 degrees total. Not terrible, but not what I have come to expect from CS. It also has TAIWAN marked in gold letters on the blade. Not attractive.

The replacement handle I paid six dollars for is fairly nice, but doesn't fit the head properly.

One neat thing it that the head makes a pretty good improvised Ulu when removed form the handle.

Just my .02, but I am interested to hear of anybody else's experiences.

Read your post and went and dug mine out to take a look. Yep...gold Taiwan on the blade. Strangely, I never noticed that until now. The blade grinds are pretty uneven, but acceptably sharp - at least to me - for a hawk. The handle is straight and straight grained, and fits tightly. I'm satisfied. Mine arrived 4 days after ordering.

Well guys,
Does it take a fairly sharp edge and hold it?
Is it as balanced in throwing as Cold Steel says?
Is it as tough as they say?
Is the bloody thing any good?!

I ask because every time I go into my dealer's shop they are hanging on the wall and my resisitance to buy one is weakening. I just about bought one yesterday but ended up buying an Underwater Kinetics SL4 Flashlight with Xenon bulb instead. My GAWD!! this thing is bright! It puts my 4 D-cell Maglite with Krypton bulb to utter shame.
Anyway, I'm wondering if the CS Tomahawks are a waste of money or what?

I found it to be pretty useless personally, didn't care for it, so yeah it's a waste of money IMO

While I did state that I was "satisfied", that is not to imply that I would recommend them, nor would I buy another. Can't answer the questions as I've not even thrown or used mine.

A little off-topic, but FYI, Jeff Loffer of Cutlery Shoppe is planning on offering again those huge heavy-duty Viet Nam tomahawks that he had a few years back. Now I would buy another one of those.
