Im a noobmaster in sharpening Tomahawks and i am seeking advice from the experts (anybody but me actually)... i dont have access anymore to a belt sander or any kind of heavier machinery.. here is what i got so far but i dont really know the best way available to me to proceed.

MacheteSpecialists file

Is there something you suggest for sharpening a Cold Steel Trail Hawk and a Frontier ?
Any suggestion are welcome..

Thank you for your time

You are all set.

Use the file to establish a bevel, use the two sided stone to refine the bevel, hone on the sharpmaker and then strop.

This should give you the edge. ;)

Thank you for your reply..

so i file a bevel pretty much like
knife_bevel_diagram.gif

continue working on the bevel with the rough side of the small stone, then continue with the smooth side..

not sure about the honing part on the sharpmaker but i'll do the same as i did with the small 2 sided stone and use the brown rod of the sharpmaker like i do with a knife and repeat on the finer white rod..

and wrap this edge with the 2 different compound on the strop ?

A lot of steps but will try anything for a good edge..

Try for a slightly convex bevel, but that is about it. You can experiment a bit with your equipment, maybe you can skip some of the steps if the grits are not that different.

Use the stone to refine the edge until you have a burr on the opposite side, then change sides until you have again created a burr. Use the sharpmaker stones at a slightly steeper angle to knock off that burr.

Then strop on the compound.
