Cold Steel Torpedo -- such a cool idea; why so rare?

The other week, I received my order of three Cold Steel Torpedos. Actually, I had tried to order them from Knifecenter.com but they had no more in stock (it was limited to "stock-on-hand," but the website had not reflected the current status). I ended up finding a guy in L.A. who had a cutlery business and had listed the Torpedo on Ebay.

Let me tell you, these things are AWESOME! :D Just the feel of one in your hand is enough to tell you how bad-ass it is. It feels so solid and strong -- hey, it weighs TWO POUNDS and is an INCH THICK in the center!

The only trouble is, I live in a place with no yard, so I have not yet been able to go anywhere to THROW the things!

Does anyone here have one (or more)? I am curious about people's opinions of them because they seem to be rare or underacknowledged. I think they are discontinued now -- glad I got three! Someone please tell me that they stick as well as the description says they do, and I'd also like to hear about how well the tips hold up under throwing rigors.

Thanks,

---Jeffrey

Okay, they are cool, but if you think about it, they are little more than a novelty.
And I imagine most wives wouldn't want something like around if they have kids.

What do kids have to do with this subject? The Torpedo is a cool throwing knife/implement. I have one, but I don't let kids play with it.

The torpedo is a weaponized lawn dart. :)
It's fun to throw, but I run out of things to throw it at because it destroys them all!

i have one . It would destroy alot of stuff . Mine is unused . I dont know if they are rare ! I see them all over the web . If you need more let me know and I will list a website that has them cheap!

I'll move this thread to the Throwing forum for you.

Use a little caution when you get a chance to throw it, especially the inch-thick model. It's so heavy if you try to throw it full force you can wrench something.

They came out with a model that was made from 3/4 inch stock a while back. It was a better thrower and would not wear you out. It threw more like a knife. I regret that I only purchased one.
