THANKS!

Nicely done! I think this is one of the best examples of perseverance I've seen in a while. Not surprised it took a while, most chopping tools are heat treated to lower numbers than knives. I bet the hawk is at or near the lowest end of the spectrum of hardness to do this with. How sharp of an edge was on that flint? Not critiquing because I wasn't there and your hand was moving really fast but it looked like you might have been striking a little shallow, at least at first. I seem to have better luck with steeper strikes, they seem to bite better and throw hotter sparks.

Good effort dude!!

I agree about the hardness of the axe not being in your favour but you showed it can be done.

Its another wee test I'm gonna have to set myself when i'm next out in the woods.

Thanks for taking the time to film and share

I've seen something similar by the jungletraining guy on utube. Any reason to hold the axe/flint so far away from the char cloth?

Yea,
I could not get a good spark up close. I tryed close and all I did was knock the chared cloth all over.

Thanks

Ah, that makes sense. Have you tried holding the char cloth in your hand next to the flint?
