Your knife is in fact not a SMIII model, but an AUS-8 stainless knife. It is very nice, but not laminated like the newest two Japanese models.

FYI.

Really? I can see the sandwich line on the spine. Are you 100% sure? I'll gladly change the listing and adjust price as long as your sure

Cold Steel didn't make a Aus8 trail master- Sk5, Carbon V, and San Mai III. If it has a laminate line then it is San Mai as long as its not a knock-off. I can't see the line in the photos. You might want to post a pic of the line.

I will.. And it's full convex with the blended zero edge. Thanks. It was sold to me as San Mai. I just don't want anyone to think I was misrepresenting.

Added a spine shot.. Pic didnt really come out good. Its real tough to get get a clean shot with a high polished knife. The line is faint but it's it's there. Im going to call Cold Steel tomorrow and find out for sure

This is NOT correct. Cold Steel did in fact make an AUS8 Trailmaster. It is rare and collectable.
I have owned one, and seen many in stores in years past.
To the OP,
Your trailmaster is AUS8, and not SAN MAI III. It is still a very cool knife, that I regret trading or selling a few years ago.
The AUS8 TM's were convex also.

I stand corrected, Lynn said they did a limited run. It would be worth more to some than a San Mai. Check with CS.

Grinder is not one to make many mistakes about Trailmasters. But I doubt this one would be worth more to a Collector than a SMIII, But every knife has it's best buyer I suppose.

It turns out, thanks to a couple guys here, and phone call to Cold Steel that this is in fact an Aus8 Trailmaster. Im going to have a mod lock this thread and will post a new one with adjusted price and spec. Thanks to those who helped me identify this..
