Hey guys I recently had some issues with people breaking my hawk handles when throwing. So I thought I'd pick up a Trench hawk. It's a lot nicer than I thought, the edge is actually sharp and the spike has symmetrical grinds and is nice and pointy. But I have no use for the spike, and the handle is really heavy. I was thinking about cutting off the spike to make sort of a poll. But I don't know that a 5/16"(?) thick poll would be all that useful. More so than a big spike would be I guess. Has any one tried this?
Also, has anybody made wooden handles for this hawk? I think a nice Hickory or maybe burnt Osage handle would look great, especially if I stripped the black coating off of the head.
Here's a pic just because I like pics.
