Cold Steel Ultra Lock Issue. Help Please.

Hey Everyone,

I purchased two old style Recon 1s from CS on closeout. These have the Ultra Lock. The lock on the first one is like butter. The second not so much. It's really really really hard to disengage the lock after you open the blade.

I've tried adjusting the screws which form the lock - no help. I've used LOTS of BM Bluelube, but it's still painful to close the thing. (Kind of feels like it's grating or rubbing against itself on the inside of the lock).

Any ideas short of taking the thing apart. Hopefully someone's had these issues and knows just what to do.

Thanks and enjoy the Holiday Weekend!

Yeah if you're talking about those reverse axis locks, they are really weird.
I managed to get my lockbar bent or some crap, so the blade sticks in certain positions when i operate the damn thing.

take apart the knife and see if the spring is out of whack(rubbing on the scale or something)

or maybe the ramped portion of the tang is chipped and rough thus making the lockbar rub it roughly

hope this helped

Sorry to hear that Vic Real. Allright Seelow, guess I'll get out the Torx set and get busy. I'm going in... Thanks guys.

i would recommend against disassembly.

they are a pain to put back together.

if they are anything like benchmades axis folders then yeah, they are quite the pain in the ass to put back together, just take your time when reassembling the knife and you should be good
