Does someone have an answer?

I just bought a 4" Cold Steel Voyager (off eBay) and I realize that it doesn't specify on the blade whether or not it's AUS8a or VG1 steel.

I heard if it doesn't specify the steel type on the blade, then it's VG1, otherwise it would state AUS8a on the blade. Is that correct??

Thanks!

Hmmm, Im not sure, but I do know that there are cold steel copies on the market now and some of them even have the cold steel logo on the blade...so hopefully someone has some answers for you...

That's what i'm worried about! You seem to be the only one who has replied so far.... am i in the right thread? haven't been on bladeforums for years!

glad to be back though : )

Your older user id should still work.

Pretty sure Cold Steel is proud of every steel they use, so it should be on both the knife and its box. Used to be back in the day. Either way, you'll be getting one really nice albeit underated steel or the other.

Sorry for not being too helpful.

The older Voyagers don't say anything on the blade except "Cold Steel Voyager" made in Japan. The AUS-8 models did not say AUS-8 on the blade. I know this because I have several.
