Cold Steel Voyager large vs Recon 1

Now I've looked around for a quick answer with no luck, and I am not comparing the two asking for opinions to "which is better blahblah."

Seeing that the blade shapes are fairly similar, both 4" and with a grind difference between the clip point versions of each knife (Voyager being FFG and Recon 1 being hollow ground), would it be possible to interchange the blades between the handles ?

I currently own the tanto version of the Recon 1, and I am just curious to know if that swapping the blades would work or not, if I were to purchase a large clip point Voyager.

Anyone know if this could be done?

I believe you want to post that in General Knife discussion. I am sure a mod will move it to the appropriate sub forum. Welcome to BF.

Aren't the voyagers pinned construction? That would preclude taking them apart. Or rather putting them back together after they've been taken apart.

No, same as the Recon 1 I believe. I'd like to put a Vaquero blade in a Recon 1 G10 handle, now that would be nice. ;)

It will depend on the exact measurement and geometry of blade tang, pivot pin, lock notch and stop pin. Not to mention blade thickness.

The knives are precision machined, so even a minute differences will render it not swappable ..

Thanks for all the responses guys. As I am sure that would be the case, whether the pivot screw hole on one blade is ever so slightly larger/smaller, offset, and so on, I would like to know if anyone has tried swapping blades with other knives of similar build.

It doesn't have to be these two knives, but has there been a pair of similar knives that worked well? Or, the opposite, failed because of such minute differences?

I've tried swapping recon 1 and ak-47 blades. They almost work and with a little dremeling can probably be done. I posted pictures on another thread. I really don't care for the blade nor handle of the recon1 so I never went further than the picture shows.

I considered that already, but the stop-pin and pivot holes don't line up.. so, basically no.

I doubt it would work. They're made in different countries, aren't they? I doubt the parts would match up.
