So I just found this Cold Steel knife in my garage as I had to go through every tool box I own because I just moved homes and wanted to know what others might think of this knife and if it is quality or not? I haven't carried it long enough to give it much use and it's a little bulky compared to what I normally carrie which is Gerber micro multi tool, and a kershaw that I've had for so long the imprints on it have been ground off or are unreadable due to sharpening and polishing so may times but it.soeant matter I know what it is.
Anyways this Voyager VG-1 what the story on this knife?
Thanks

Also I have a $100 gift card for Amazon and have been looking at some buck knives... What would you get?

Wrong sub-forum. Moving from Traditional to General...

And now that we are here in General, I will say that "VG1" is the blade steel and the model is the "Voyager". The company who designed it is "Cold Steel". It was made in Japan. I have one and it is a good general purpose one-hander.

VG1 is a Japanese stainless alloy having edge retention about equal to 154CM or VG10. It retains an edge noticeably better than 440C,

The VG1 steel also identifies as an older generation model as they have since gone back to Aus 8 steel and incorporated changes to the lockback.

It should be a nice user that is tough, and VG1 is a good cutlery steel. Use it and enjoy.
