Cold steel voyager

I own several CS knives, a BushRanger is SS, a CarbonV Master hunter the hunting knife I judge all other hunting knives by, and a couple of there reproduction mountain man style knives, along with 2XLG clip points, plain and serrated. Big bang for the buck. The Voyager series of lock back knives are some of the best designed cutters you will find at that price point, and the lock up is beyond bomb proof. Fixed blades are the same. My 2 XL's pretty much out cut everything I own in clip style knives except for my Al Mar Eagle in ATS34. This includes, my CQC7A, my BM's although they are close, Spyderco, etc.etc. Lots of hype that goes along with CS knives but they seem to be able to back it up. Hope this helps. Keep'em sharp

I've got two large Voyagers, clip and tanto. They're still solid with no wobble after thousands of openings and closings; the rocker lock has never failed me (but I cut with the edge, not the back). Zytel handles are practically indestructible. The AUS8 takes a hair popping edge and is quite easy to sharpen. I've had no problems with corrosion at all despite carrying these next to the skin when jogging and cross country skiing. One of the best deals in lockbacks around, IMHO. (I just wish they'd offer them in Carbon V.)

Ed speaks for me also. I would also like one in carbon V, but have also accidentally left a voyager clipped to my pocket for a ride in the washer and dryer, no problems.

Easy to sharpen, take a great edge, and are reasonably priced!

I own a cs vouager large plain edge tanto. It is
without a doubt the sharpest shiv in the house;
thanks to my keeping it that way with the
Spyderco TRI-sharp; mostly whities; ya cant even
tell its ever been touched. And I mean its "haaairr
poppin frog-shavin sharp"! I really like the larger
CS tantos though; and Im looking for and x-large
in the same configuration. I dont much care 4 CS
serrations except in the kitchen where my K5 reg-
ularly makes its apperance at cookin time. Onions
get phobic when the k5 shows up. If you have 2 ask
its a cookin thing u wouldnt understand.
Im not trying 2 buy that blade in this section
of BF;just wandering about negative or positive
reactions. More feedback is welcome continue please...

I have a Cold Steel XL Voyager Clip point and the HUGE Vaquero. I have also barrowed a friend Gun Sight XL tanto. Out of those my favorite has to be the XL Voyager Clip Point.

The knife sharpens to a razors edge, while many knives can do that, it is the easiest so far to re-sharpen. The handle on the Clip point tapers more than that of the Tanto series which gives it a lower profile in the pocket. The Vaquero is just a little too wide in the handle for comfortable carry.

Both the Gunsight and the XL Voyager has the same size blade (5 Inches), but the Clip point gives the illusion that it is larger because the "profile" of the blade is wider so it looks bigger.

The Clip Point blade is much more utility friendly(skinned several deer and many a hog) than the tanto although the Tanto would be a stronger tip.

In closing, I'll be one to admit that I like the "older" style handles with the plasic clip. All of the Voyager series are great knives and a great deal for the money.

Love this knife, I wish the clip was metal like my Cuda. The plastic clip is not as secure as I would like..

My xl tanto voyager came with a metal clip,Ive had it for a year, they are great and you can find them for pretty cheap.

While I dont use them a lot, I have a cold steel large and extra large voyager tanto, as well as the Cold steel El Hombre. All have nice thin edges that are easy to keep very sharp and the locks remain solid. I bought all of them on sale, and think if you look around for a deal as list price is a little high, that these are some of the best values around. I would avoid serrations, and I think a clip point would be better for utility.

Cold Steel Voyagers are fine knives. The Cold Steel Company got me reinterested in blades back in their infancy, progressing from the famous Tanto to present.

I have an XL plain-edge clip-point Voyager, and I've nothing but praise for the folder. They are rcv'd usually with a thin razor edge, and touch up to former no problem, and also with a very strong lock. No going to go into detail as I'm not a fanatical detail-oriented tester. Trust me. They're sweet users.
