Hello, i've been looking for a good throwing tomahawk/camp axe. I've been thinking about getting the CS frontier hawk from ragweed forge and getting it sharpened or H&B's Shawnee hawk. Any suggestions?

Hi Brodie R.
Quality wise the H&B's Shawnee hawk is the better of the two
think this would also make a better thrower

i have a CS rifleman's hawk, pretty good orice for the quality. I'd give it a 5 out of 10, good thrower and good all-around hawk but low quality.

I've just started throwing hawks for the hell of it... and I've been using H&B Shawnee's and the Cold Steel version that looks about the same... The CS heads get loose fast and are sloppily fit compared to the H&B stuff. The H&B's stick a lot better for me as well.

I can say for certain that the HB is a great hawk. I never had a CS hawk, but I think that the CS
Frontier hawk may be the best hawk for throwing in the CS line. It may also be a good value. The CS hawks are cast, or drop forged, I believe. I need to get a CS hawk.... need a HB hawk too. They are all nice....

I have an H&B that has been used for about 20 years now with no problems at all :) Somewhere I have a CS hawk and dought it wouldn't serve just as well although I do want to thin out the edge before taking it to the woods. Just my preference for a cutting edge versus a splitting edge. I would have to give the nod to H&B if you are into the Mountain Man reenactments though. The CS can be spotted a mile away at the rendezvous :p
