Which one is an all-around better knife? We know from this video that the Warcraft Tanto has insane durability and toughness, how does the good old reliable KA-BAR stack up?

EDIT: The CS and KA-BAR tanto both have similar dimensions, but the CS one is made of CPM 3V and the KA-BAR is made from 1095CV.

I would expect the warcraft tanto to be a far superior knife. Full tang CPM-3V is much stronger and wear resistant.

3v looks to be at least 3x tougher than 1095 based on the charts I've seen. So if the cold steel is made out of that, then I would say that's where I would stake my bet.

Good luck with whatever you do :)

Man I wish they made a drop point or non American tanto style blade cause I love everything else about that beast

Knife blades with similar dimensions and geometry may work the same
But may not feel the same in hand.
Things to consider includes handle ergonomics and texture.
A Blade's weighted balance being concentrated way up at the tip,
mid way or predominantly handle heavy makes a difference in blade handling.
Having said so, imo the answer for this comparison
can only be fairly answered
Upon actual physical inspection or handling.
But I suspect many would expect far more exceptional performance values
coming from cold steel's Warcraft.

What's wrong with tanto blades?

Nothing wrong with them, they are just designed for something I really don't have a need for.

The American tanto (the style you're looking at) is designed to have an extremely robust tip to use when stabbing. This works pretty well for a fighting knife I supposed, but personally I have no need to stab anything. Same way with a true dagger. The pattern works great for what its used for, I just have no need for it, so I'll avoid most dagger shaped blades as well.

I figure that's more or less what he was implying there. And like it sounds like he prefers the drop point design as well, as it is the most universally useful blade shape IMO.

Well, as the video shows, if you are chopping up chickens hanging from string the CS is clearly superior.

If that isn't your intended application, if you tell us what is, then maybe we can better answer your question.

Which one is better for soldiers?

I've seen the Warcraft Tanto video, and it's clear that the real genius behind the Warcraft Tanto is Crucible industries with their CPM 3V steel. I mean all Cold Steel did was put G-10 on the sides of a slab of steel. Hardly innovative :P

Seriously though, CPM 3V is better than 1095. But for that price, I'd get a Zero Tolerance 0100.
