Does anyone know if CS still makes this knife. My brother wanted a throwing knife for Christmas, and I got him several other kinds, but this one looks really cool. Thanks for the info.

Sorry but they dont make them anymore and I dont think they plan on doing it again. I called Cold Steel and asked them and they said it want likely to go back into production. Some have said the they are too hard to be used as throwing knives and thier might have been a problem with them.

lagarto, I have a Warhead from way back when. It is a cool knife but I don't think it's a good thrower. It is very big and thin with a narrow edge. It just doesn't seem to have a tough enough geometry, even if the steel were up to it. Great spearhead, though :)

Try the CS True Flight Thrower; it will grow on you with use and is really good steel (1095), holds a great edge. Also you can add an extra layer of paracord to the handle to make a pretty good all-around knife out of it (I did mine with the Japanese style wrap & it looks good / didn't effect my ability to throw it).

Hello "James Green Dragon". My name is JD Spydo and I am new to the Blade Forum. I also have a couple of sets of Cold Steel True Flight Throwers. The dealer that I got them from and the magazine I found them in both say they are made from their proprietary Carbon V blade steel. Am I wrong about that. What ever they are made of I can only say that I am satisfied with them. They are certainly a lot of fun if you use care with them. Thank You Sir I would love to hear your reply. My contact is joedot@swbell.net :)

Cold Steel's Carbon V steel is whatever kind of steel they are using at the time. Yes, they are carbon steels and they all receive their best heat treatment. Throwers may get less or different heat treatment since they have to handle hard impact shock.
