so im looking at getting either the cold steel american lawman or the cold steel mini lawman.
firstly are these good folders
what should I be looking for in a folder
My aim is to use it for emergency/ daily use

thanks

I don't have one, but I've read good things. They have Demko's Tri-ad lock which is one of the strongest locks out there.

I have the American Lawman. It's a good folder. Strong spring and a lock-up with absolutely no blade-play. The blade steel is nothing special - AUS-8 - but it's easy to sharpen. Good grip. I think it's a solid folder at a very reasonable price.

I agree.

Cold Steel seems to have "hit paydirt" with the combination of Triad-lock, knife designs, and the maker.

I checked out the mini over the weekend and it's a nice edc in size and ergos. If I was in the market for another folder I would be looking at this one, and wouldn't hesitate recommending it to a new buyer.

Only have experience with the Lawman

Pros

-Strong lock
-Nice blade profile
-easy to sharpen
-aggressive G10

Cons

-Bulky and heavy
-smallish clip
-lock design makes it slower to open and close ( if that is important to you)
-aggressive G10 - Hard on pockets and tends to grab when pulling from the pocket

I own the American Lawman. It's strong as a Tank!. Excellent lock-up with absolutely no blade-play. It came razor sharp!. Good and ergonomic grip. You won't get a better folder at that price point.
